1. Организационный момент. Тема урока.

Hallo, boys and girls. Glad to see that you are well today. I hope you will be active during the lesson.

I'd like you to look at the screen. We are going to see a fragment of a musical clip of Michael Jackson. Its title is Earth Song.

What is the song about? You are absolutely right! So, today our lesson is devoted to ecological problems.

Look at the board please. You can see the quotation of Mahatma Gandhi “We must become the change we want to see in the word”. At the end of our lesson I hope you will be able to explain it.

Unhappily the story of man includes the careless killing of wildlife and careless exploitation of natural resources, the pollution of rivers and the destruction of forest lands.

Do you know about any places on the Earth that have been destroyed or damaged as a result of man's activity? (The Aral Sea, the Caspian Sea, Chernobyl, the Dead Sea in Israel)

At the previous lesson we spoke about the waste, the ways of eliminating it and about the rule of 3Ds. Do you remember what does R stand for? (Reduce, reuse, and recycle) Today we are going to speak about different types of pollution.

As it has been said in the film, the main cause of pollution is the man's activity and interference into Nature. Now I'd like to see if you understand how technological progress and the environment are connected. Take worksheets #3 and discuss with your partner pros and cons of the technological progress.

Well, to sum everything up, I'd like to divide you into 3 groups. The task for each group is to discuss one type of pollution and to give the possible variants of solving the problem using the information that you have got during the lesson.
